Commissions

That’s right, folks, you can commission your very own Aaron J. Shay song, suitable for a variety of uses and occasions!

The following rates reflect arrangements featuring voice, guitar, banjo, ukulele, and select digital instruments. More complex arrangements available for an additional fee. All commissions include one round of revisions, and will be delivered digitally in both lossless and compressed format (AIF/MP3). Delivery dates vary. Contact me for more details!

NON-COMMERCIAL PACKAGES:

    • JINGLE: $60. Perfect for radio, podcasts, or video series! One brief song at 30 seconds or less, featuring one instrument and vocals. Additional instruments available upon request.
    • DITTY: $100. Need a lullaby for your child, a drinking song for you and your friends, or an anthem for your D&D campaign? This is a short song, approximately 1 minute in length, featuring one instrument and vocals. Additional instruments available upon request.
    • BALLAD: $150+. You’ve got an idea that needs verses and choruses, maybe even a bridge, to fully express. A description of your wedding day, or maybe an ode to your favorite fictional character, perhaps? Ballads range from 2-5 minutes, featuring one instrument and vocals. Additional instruments available upon request.

COMMERCIAL LICENSE PACKAGE: For-profit and business-related songs are available for commission. These include theme songs, jingles, instrumentals, and other works for use in promotional videos, ads, and other commercial projects.  These packages start at $200, depending on the nature of the license.

FAQ

Do I own the rights to a song I commission?

You certainly can, if you like! But as a default, I retain non-exclusive rights to any piece of commissioned work. If you’d like acquire exclusive rights to a song, it is negotiable for an additional fee!

How long does it take for commissions to be delivered? Can you work with my schedule or deadline?

Deadlines are negotiable! Usually, I try to deliver songs within a month, to allow myself the time to give a good polish to the work. Sometimes it’s sooner, and sometimes it’s later, depending on my work load. I can work with whatever timeline you have!

What if I don’t like the song I commission?

I’ll be  glad to work with you as long as it takes to provide you a song that fits your needs and interests! I’m also willing to refund commission fees on a case-by-case basis, as long as it is requested before a round of revisions are made. I’m confident that I  can craft a song that you will love!
